Many, many, many of you have contacted me over this year about the legislation that would allow reciprocity with GA CWP owners. We finally got that bill passed at the 11th hour, and the governor has signed it. You know my feeling on the 2nd Amendment and my support of Constitutional Carry legislation which has no restrictions on your rights, but just like with life, we have to take incremental steps until we return to the vision of the Founders on this issue. We’ll be back next year to obtain the full measure of your right to own and carry firearms.
This bill subordinates SC citizen’s rights to Georgia citizen rights. We can carry in Georgia if we obtain an Utah CWP. So we do have a path to carry in Georgia. This bill permits Georgia citizens to carry in SC with zero training. Zero training is an increasingly dangerous demographic because of the influx of northerners retiring to SC and Georgia. Therefore it is increasingly statistically likely that a Georgian carrying in SC will not use due care when under the stress of a deadly force situation. This was an ill thought out bill passed to placate the ignorant.
