The Senate also last week gave final approval to what we have named the “Pain-Capable Act.”

It prohibits abortion in South Carolina at or beyond the twentieth week of pregnancy with the sole exception of severe fetal anomalies detected within that time frame.

This is a major step forward in the fight to protect innocent life, and I was proud to serve as a cosponsor of the Senate version of the bill. The bill will go to Governor Haley’s desk as soon as the House acts, and I hope that will be this week.

Passage of this law makes SC the 17th state to step up its defense of human life, and it is particularly important with the ongoing revelations that Planned Parenthood actually makes infanticide part of its business plan.

This is not the end of the fight, but it is a significant victory, and I’m thankful to have been a small part of it.
